Title

Wallace McNeil Photos – Farm Fire 1947 – Charlotte, Vermont
McNeil Farm Fire Photo 3

Subject

April 9, 1947 fire destroys farm buildings at the Old Homestead Farm/Lyman B. McNeil Estate in Charlotte, Vermont. Farm owned by Wallace L. McNeil, operated by Mitchell Lavalette. (Information from the Burlington Free Press, April 10, 1947.)

Note on photo:

Impossible to reconstruct,
from cut negatives, the
exact sequence. Fire was
far advanced before I
took any. Here, snow is not
melted on roof, and smoke
comes from N. horse barn.
One fireman in left
foreground, I’d say.
